Stop this travesty

More than 100,000 have now signed the petition protesting President Barack Obama’s invitation to speak (and receive an honorary degree) at Notre Dame.

From the U.S. Bishops' 2004 mandate (in 'Catholics in Political Life'): “The Catholic community and Catholic institutions should not honor those who act in defiance of our fundamental moral principles. They should not be given awards, honors or platforms which would suggest support for their actions.”

Habemus Episcopum!

Morin named Biloxi's third bishop.

"Most Reverend Roger Paul Morin, currently serving as an auxiliary bishop in the Archdiocese of New Orleans, has been named the third Bishop of Biloxi by Pope Benedict, the diocese announced this morning.

Publication of this appointment was made earlier today, Monday, March 2, 2009, at The Vatican in Rome and from the Apostolic Nunciature in Washington, D.C. Bishop Morin, 67, succeeds the Most Reverend Thomas J. Rodi who now serves as the Archbishop of Mobile."
